Less Soliloquy More Diary
I was one of the people who put their hand up tonight when Sifu said "who didn't blog this week". I have had a couple blog ideas floating around in the back of my mind, but i haven't made* the time to actually write any of them out.
(* I wanted to write "haven't had the time" but I know that I am choosing to prioritize my time else where; no matter how busy I am I know I can make time to write a blog)
Between the changing of my work schedule from week to week, to the busyness of the holiday season to some other things throwing wrenches into my schedule, it has been hard for me to find a way to consistently write blogs. I had been trying to write them on my days off, whenever they fell in the week, but often those days would fill up with all the other things I needed to catch up on during my work days and unfortunately "blog" tended to fall near the bottom of my to-do list. But tonight Noa said something when Sifu Brinker prompted them, that gave me a reminder and an idea.
Paraphrasing, they said "I haven't been training as much as I'd like so I haven't been blogging." Somewhere along the way I forgot that a blog can serve as a weekly training log/diary". I have been thinking of them as overarching themes in my training, or specific events that I want to remember but the problem I'm having with those sorts of blogs is as I write them, I tend to try to expand my initial idea which leads to the blog taking maybe longer than an hour in total to write, which right now is not realistic/sustainable. But a written recording of the events of my training for the week seems like something I could write in a more reasonable amount of time.
So my plan moving forward is: every Monday night (whether I'm working or not) I am going to set a timer on my phone for 10 minutes, and write as much as I can about what I did during the week until it goes off, when it does I'll finish up the thought I was on, and end the blog there.
If I want to write one of those big lengthy theme-heavy or event blogs I will be aiming to do those in addition to these training logs, some other time in the week. That way I'm hoping I can give my blog requirement a bit of a boost too.
I hope this plan will help me with the time, and consistency, and training issues I've been having for the last little while, so I'll give it a go and tweak it along the way to make sure it serves me.
(I also want to re-work how I am tracking my numbers because right now I have to transfer them over to my excel sheet every few weeks rather than just entering them directly there every day, and the extra work adds to the time it takes to put out a blog which I feel like deters me from writing it in the first place)
