Up too late

Need to get better at posting my numbers weekly even if I’m not writing a blog. It’s WAY past my bedtime but I want to make this a habit, which means I need to put effort in, and if it only takes 2 minutes to do, then I can sacrifice those 2 minutes of sleep to do this.  Current Total Should Be At Push-ups 18420 28080 Sit-Ups 18830 28080 Hand Form 204 520 Weapon Form 213 520 Other Forms 178 182 Sparring 369 520 AOK 399 520 Steps 1530 806 Repair Relationship 3 7 Me and White Supremacy 6 13 12 Applications 2 7 1-on-1's 16 26 Kung Fu Art 0 7 Blogs 21 26

Project 18

Tonight’s class was a blast and it couldn’t have happened without the participation of the team, so thank you! I think initially my intent was to try to link up different techniques and try to find all the specific vectors that can happen in our techniques, not just linear or circular, but all the nuances in between them. But what ended up happening and what I think is ultimately more valuable was the discussions we had when we were disagreeing on how to define those vector types. The questions we generated as we challenged each other are way more interesting than simply having a list of a handful of ways that we can move. How do you define if you’re doing “one” motion with two movements VS doing “two” techniques simultaneously? Do stances have vectors? Is doing the same sort of motion with the intent of an expansion vs a contraction more similar to each other compared to another type of motion; or since they are opposites does that make them more dissimilar? (I.e. does a symmetrical e...

10 Minutes

After tonight’s ‘be honest with yourself’ and ‘make and act on a plan to address the problem’ discussions I am once again trying to build a routine to consistently do mindful form reps.  Problem: I don’t have enough time to do my forms. Question: how much can I get done in 10 minutes? Additional Question: How long does it even take me to do a form rep? Speed is going to vary depending on intent and what I’m focusing on, but how long does an average rep take? After setting a timer for 10 minutes I found that I am able to do 5 hand form and 3 weapon form reps. 10 minutes?  10 minutes?!  This whole time I was making excuses about “I have no time” “I need to go to bed earlier and doing all these forms keeps me up too late” “there’s too much to do when I get home with all my other requirements already”?? Even if all of those excuses were true, surely I can make time for 10 extra minutes a night.  Here I was thinking I would need to uproot my whole routine to fabricate a w...
